Able-bodied and disabled veterans, from the U.S. and Vietnam , travel across a landscape where they once killed to stay alive. The former enemies ride as one team, joined by well-known rider Greg LaMonde and Senator John Kerry, in an emotional journey of peace, reconciliation, and athletic achievement. [UPDATE]ABD Results: Masters RR, Kenosha Crit, Cross Cup, TdStG
ABR Westlake Village Masters Road Race
ABD's Marilyn Powell "did the double" this weekend as she won the Women's 30/40/50 road race at Westlake Village on Saturday and then went on to take the same title at the Kenosha Criterium Sunday!
Kenosha Fall Criterium:
ABD'er Bob Marshall is no longer a dark horse in the Masters 50+! Bob launched a late attack in the closing laps of Sunday's race and quickly built up a 250 meter lead by burying himself in the headwind section. Unfortunately, on the final lap he let up just enough for LOT rider Richard Adamczyk to catch him on the line- but Bob still hung on for 2nd!
In the Men's 3 race Steve Parrish and Theo Quednau raced aggressively all day in the hopes of putting a rider in the breakaway, but after six or seven hard attacks the elastic between the groups snapped and the pair were caught back in the field. Fortunately, the two were able to conserve enough energy to take 3rd and 4th in the field sprint and 6th and 7th overall.
Chicago Cross Cup: Round 1
Props to Sue Semaszczuk and Gina Kenny, who placed 5th and 7th in the first round of the Chicago Cross Cup at Jackson Park. The pair are off to a great start with six events total in the series this year, including ABD race at Sunrise Park on October 28th!
ABD Cross Captain Jim Nowak placed a very respectable 11th place in an absolutely HUGE Masters 40+ field- almost 40 riders!
Next up: Carpentar Park on October 21st.
Tour de St. Genevieve:
That Josh Carter sure heals quickly. Just three weeks after suffering a Class 2 shoulder separation, Carter took the win at the TdStG Road Race this past Saturday. And rather than take it easy and just wait for the sprint, he spent almost 70 miles off the front with two other riders!

Illinois State Time Trial Championship:
Several ABD'ers traveled to Harvard, IL this past weekend to welcome back Illinois' very own USCF State Championship Time Trial. Rob Jungels, Irene Pang and Graham Clark all showed fantastic late season form en route to State Championship titles!
Congratulations also goes out James Sneddon, Bob Marhsall and Rich "the Sarge" Mstowski- who all made the top 5 in their respective categories.
Gateway Cup:
Josh Carter continued to prove himself as one of the Midwest's top riders at the '07 Gateway Cup, garnering two 2nd place finishes and a 3rd finish in the first three stages of the Gateway Cup.
Unfortunately, in the final stage on the U City Loop, Carter crashed hard through the tricky first section of the course. He managed to get up and finish the race in order to maintain his second overall standing, but a trip to the doctor Monday night revealed a Class 2 separation in his shoulder. Carter plans to start winding down his season a little early and focus on coming back even stronger in '08.

Downer's Grove: Keeley takes 4/5 Win, Carter 2nd in Elite Nats
Congratulations to ABD'ers Tim Keeley and Josh Carter for their trips to the podium at the Downer's Grove Cycling Classic.
On Saturday Tim took the "W" in a rainy, Masters 30+, 4/5 event and wrote up a great report on his and Jay Corgiat's well-laid plans for the race.
In Sunday's Men's Elite National Crit Championships, Carter rode tough in a 2-hour crashfest to sprint to within a half-wheel of the win. Unfortunately, a tangle with veteran Steve Tilford in the final turn slowed Carter down just enough that Dan Halloway was just able to get by him.
Carter was smart to never drift further back than 15th place in the race, and stayed in the top 10 the entire last 5 laps.
Props go out to two other ABD Top 10's finishes this weekend: Theo Quednau placed 8th in the Junior Men's race and Jeff Schroetlin finished 10th in the Masters 1/2/3 on Saturday.
